While growing up in Massachusetts I loved being outside. My career began
playing with Tonka trucks. The neighborhood kids got together, raking bike paths, building tree forts, or just hanging
out at Indian Rock, in all weather. This had a positive influence and encouraged my appreciation of
nature. Visits to our mountains, seashore, on family vacations and scouting trips introduced
me the unique range of natural environments here in New England. We did lots of camping, hiking, bicycling,
and skiing, right here, home in New England. It became clear that environment, the changing
seasons, our surrounding history and culture, make this a natural place for someone
like me who loves to landscape.

The landscape business provides a way
to combine this appreciation of with my curiosity about art and science. To
pursue this profession I earned an Associate in Land Planning from New Hampshire Vocational-Technical College
in the White Mountains, which whetted my appetite for more. So I pursued
a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from Utah State University, with a minor in powder skiing. After graduation
I found myself looking out the window from design offices I worked in. I had to get out of the office and get dirty so, as
a result, since 1986, New England Land Design has installed over 300 residential landscapes.
